Positioning Assessment – AI visibility audit

The test takes thirty seconds.

  1. 01‘Who is the best ⟨your service⟩ in ⟨your town⟩?’
  2. 02‘Who should I turn to when ⟨the problem you solve comes up⟩?’
  3. 03‘What should I look out for when choosing ⟨your service⟩?’

What comes back is the answer your next customer gets.

Either you’re in it. Or someone whose work you know to be weaker.

And if you’re not in it: you weren’t in it yesterday either. It’s just that nobody told you, because a call that never comes leaves no trace. So everything carries on as before – and that is the real finding.

Gap map

Every question in your market – at a glance.

A number tells you whether you show up. The gap map tells you where your money is well spent.

For every question in the measurement, it shows who holds the ground in the AI answers: you, someone else or nobody. That tells you where to start – and where your money is better left alone.

Example, provider anonymised, all values invented: gap map for a precision engineering firm with 16 questions, plotted by how well each question fits the business and how firmly the field is occupied. 3 are your field (hold), 6 are opportunities (start here; opportunity 1 is held today by an industry portal), 3 are open fields (claim first), 2 are firmly occupied by a trade association and a large manufacturer with a knowledge hub (choose not to challenge), 2 don’t fit (leave aside).
Example, provider anonymised. Position estimated from measured characteristics. All values in the example are invented.

The gap

When someone asks for a manufacturer of small production runs, the AI answer names an industry portal. Your firm doesn’t appear, even though that is exactly what it does.

How we claim it

Your small-batch offer becomes something the answer engines can verify – on your own site and wherever they look things up.

Steps

  1. 1

    Who: you

Pull together references and performance data for small-batch work.

  2. 2

    Who: us

Prepare the offer so that the answer engines can find and verify it.

  3. 3

    Who: together

Measure again and decide which opportunity comes next.

Whether the field moves will show in the next measurement. We don’t promise a placement. You get your own gap map with the report.

We measured ourselves. And we put it to the test.

We’re a small consultancy, so we’re in the same position as you. For the German search term ‘jobs to be done-methode’, Search Console puts us at position 1.0. 44 impressions, no clicks. On 14 September we were just a source link in Google’s AI answer, not in the organic top ten. Nine days later, even that had gone.

Our reading: the answer now comes before the website.

And we tested it on ourselves. On 23 August we set ten search questions, two of them controls unrelated to the new page. We weren’t on page one for any of them. That evening a page went live that answers them. Eleven days later: 3 out of 10 on page one, one in first place. Controls: zero.

The lesson: decide up front what counts, run controls, be honest about the result. That’s how we measure for you – not your ranking, but whether you’re in the answer. Only the first look is uncomfortable.

What we promise, and what we don’t.

No promise of placements

AI systems make that call afresh every time. What we promise is measurement to a fixed standard – and the way forward that follows from its findings.

No promise of when it takes effect

We have observed anything from minutes to weeks. How you’ll recognise it is set out in the report.

No entry without evidence

Without documented outside recognition, an entry in the knowledge graph would be deleted. We tell you what to do first instead.

No Wikipedia article

Only third parties can create one. But you can do things that make one more likely.

Many firms advertise that the diagnosis is credited towards the implementation. So do we.

But anyone who earns from the implementation has an interest in it being needed – which is why, in other fields, German law prohibits this (Section 8b(4) of the Energy Services Act, EDL-G; Section 55(1), first sentence, of the Public Accountants Act, WPO). Nobody requires it of us.

That is why we tell you when implementation isn’t worthwhile.

How booking works.

  1. 01 You choose your dateNo earlier than six days ahead, so the report is sure to be ready.
  2. 02 You provide the detailsSeven details, no access needed, around five minutes.
  3. 03 You book and payThe clock only starts once payment has been received.
  4. 04 The report arrivesWithin four working days of receipt of payment – usually sooner.
  5. 05 We go through itWhat was measured, what follows, and whether implementation pays off.
  6. 06 You decideAn offer with the measurement credited – or we leave it there.

We don’t ask you for anything that’s already online.

Legal form, address, directory entries, press mentions – finding those is our job. We only ask for what we can’t find out ourselves.
